I have to disagree with the previous response and I'm curious how one would figure homeopathy is not a placebo effect but antidepressants are.

Any and all studies indicating a positive result with placebos also show a much more significant success rate with anti-depressants.

This video was shared in my psychology department and I found it hilarious, especially the last few seconds.

I also have a background of Depression and nothing has ever helped except for non-SSRI anti-depressants (like Wellbutrin) in order to get me feeling well enough to take on more natural activities to benefit my physical and mental health. It's very difficult to get to counseling or the gym or pull out the juicer when you can hardly muster up the drive to will yourself out of bed.

CBT is also a wonderful treatment for depression. Sometimes, when suffering from a hereditary, genetically passed on type of clinical Depression or bi-polar disorders, talk therapy and homeopathic treatments are simply ineffective.
Others who aren't suffering from brain chemistry issues which are causing the disorder may benefit from talk-therapy and a lifestyle change. My field is psychology and while I try to stay away from pharmaceuticals as often as possible and always aim for natural approaches first, I've never found any significant results from homeopathy other than mere placebos which can be attained from any approach.
