Hello all,

Some time ago I posted about how a 100% raw vegan diet had helped me with brain fog and fatique. The diet is great and if done 100% you will feel the best you ever have in your life.

But, the diet is boring, difficult to maintain, and caused me teeth sensitivities. Additionally, any sort of social gatherings involving food are problematic because of the stigma people place on those who eat differently.

So... In my opinion, one of the causes of brain fog is leaky gut. If you feel better when you fast for a day or longer or when you wake up in the morning and immediately start to experience brain fog upon eating I would suggest trying to incorporate resistant starch into your diet.

If you are like me, when you first started to experience brain fog you jumped on the internet and found all the information about candida as the cause of brain fog. You started to eliminate carbohydrates from your diet, which initially helped you because you eliminated some poor food choices from your diet, but over the months or years you never got well. You even incorporated anti-fungals, threelac, fivelac, heavy doses of vitamin c, and all other sorts of attempts to remedy your illness.

But you never got well.

Well, if you think you may be suffering from leaky gut, a major cause of brain fog in my opinion, you may want to try to include resistant starch into your diet.

To my knowledge there is no scientific evidence to support resistant starch as a way to heal leaky gut. My recent trip to a gastroenterologist revealed that doctors do not beleive this is an actual illness anyway. But I can vouch that the brain fog is significantly lessened, almost gone. My mind works again. Just be careful not to consume things that you may be sensitive to, ie. milk kefir, eggs, etc.

So how does resistant starch work? The healthy bacteria in your gut feed on it, creating short chain fatty acids, which help to heal the gut. It also helps boost the amount of friendly bacteria. I am not an expert on the subject, but know that the fog is removed since I have included it in my diet. It also helps to consume L-glutamine as well.

If you are dealing with brain fog please check into resistant starch.

Adrenal fatigue may also be affecting you along with the leaky gut. Seems to be one of those things that if you
are dealing with one, the you probably have the other.

Here is the link that introduced me to the concept.

Also from the same site he talks about the causes of brain fog.
