No, this is not correct, sodium ascorbate is vit C in natrium (sodium) form. It is definitely water soluble.
You can take either of these forms, I prefer ascorbic acid.

About cancer; it is sky rocketing these days, I have my share of it in my family. But quite easy to prevent IMO, and thats the way to go.
