It might be due to an enzyme deficiency. The salivary glands put out enzymes to help start digestion...so perhaps taking extra digestive enzymes may help the salivary glands rest a bit and reduce the swelling.

I'm thinking of trying Standard Process Parotid PMG...as I have the same issues from time to time.
