:) I love the comparison - getting away from bad food is like getting away from a destructive relationship.

During my last fast, I came to the conclusion that when the "bad" foods etc. are leaving our bodies, we crave exactly the thing that's leaving (because it's been released into our bloodstream to go to the eliminatory organs).

I also learned that they're putting higher and higher amounts of MSG into almost all packaged foods and using all different names for it. Addictive chemicals are put in the foods we crave so we'll buy and eat more and get sicker to support the "health" care system (such a misnomer, but I digress).

The good news is ... as you say, if you stay away from it long enough, the cravings will go away. It doesn't actually take 40 days for me. I actually find that it only takes three to five days, that's how long it took me to break the coffee addiction. It will be interesting to see whether 40 days is the magic number for you to completely break the food habit. I'd love to know whether it works!

But like an alcoholic who can't drink at all, I know that I can't have even a sip of coffee or I'll be back to drinking it again every day.

You describe the human struggle so well ... turning away from that which destroys us but makes us "feel" good in the short term ...

Hang in there ND, we're rooting for you!
