Yes, this is possible and likely. But the subsequent yeast infection is much easier to treat than the chronic BV. The peroxide douche is very effective in treating chronic and/or lingering infections. I put about 1/4 cup of HP and equal amount of water in a clean douche bottle, insert the contents and hold inside for 5 minutes, every day for 1 week to treat an active infection. I also found that inserting the contents of 1 acidophilus capsule after you are sure that all HP/water has come out proved effective in minimizing my chances of getting a yeast infection from the treatment (I used the RepHresh Pro-B brand probiotic). Not all probiotics are ideal for vaginal flora, but this is one of them. I'm sure there are more but this one does not have to be refrigerated. I actually break the capsule open and manually insert the contents with a damp q-tip. Sounds weird, but it works!
