Is radioactive Iodine ever the only or the best solution? My doctor is recommending it for my current state of hyperthyroidism with goiter and rapid weight loss. I feel like once the stressful situations in my life that gave rise to the hyperthyroid episode even out, my thyroid situation may calm down and normalize so that such a drastic treatment would not be necessary. Am I being naive? I am not a doctor or a medical expert. By the way I stopped taking my 4 Iodoral a day about a month ago because the rapid weight loss scared me and I was afraid the Iodoral might be pushing me to hyperthyroid somehow. Now heart rate is high and doctor wants me on Metropolol, a blood pressure medicine that he thinks will protect my heart from the raging adrenalin.
