You may indeed have a bacterial overgrowth in your stomach which is a symptom of wider problems. Do you get wind when you eat?
You have not told us much about your health and what type of diabetes you have. Are you a type 1 or type 2? Do you require daily insulin? Are you doing everything possible to try and keep your blood glucose under control? Poor control will make things much worse very rapidly if your health is already weak. Poor control affects many processes in the body, increasing glycation which will speed up the damage. It also reduces the bodies ability to use Vitamin C which will further affect the circulatory system.
Chances are that your nervous system could be damaged by the diabetes, which is affecting your stomach function and that lowers the stomachs ability to produce acid. That can result in bacterial overgrowth of the stomach because there is insufficient acid to destroy bacteria. It will also affect your digestive system, affecting your blood glucose control as a result because food doesn't get broken down properly and at a steady rate. That can result in more uncontrolled blood glucose levels in my experience due to delayed breakdown of carbohydrates which is something that you should not be allowing IMO. Poor digestion can also mean nutritional deficiencies which will affect your whole health.
I've had type 1 diabetes for over 35 years and I have almost zero stomach acid and bacterial overgrowth of the stomach with wind when I eat, hyper permeable gut (leaky gut) and ME. Getting the stomach working properly is very important to control what gets into your body and ensure that your body gets what it needs to heal. I can see the state of my nervous system and why my stomach function is so poor by looking at my iris. My iris shows a grey band around my pupil which indicates poor stomach function due to nervous system damage from the diabetes. Over recent months the greyness has begun to fade and the blue colour slowly begin to return as my nervous system is rebuilt. The iris rim has also become much more well defined. It can be a slow process if the digestive system is not functioning well. Lemon juice and/or betaine HCI can help to restore stomach acid which will break the cycle of poor digestion and poor assimilation. I recommend that you look at the GAPS diet if your nervous system is as it sounds because the diet will restore digestive function to enable you to heal. There are other similar diets which can do a similar thing. Dr Campbell McBride and many other people recommend stock soups to assist the digestive system and nervous system to heal. It's the nervous system restoration which you might need if you have been diabetic for a long time or your control has been bad.
If you seriously want to turn things around then you need to take the right steps to do that. If you put your blind faith in the wrong people you will get worse and could end up dead.
Do not be drawn in by confidence tricksters who prey on the weak and vulnerable!
