The dermatology clinic I went to the other day (at the university hospital which I work in) just called me today. They did all kinds of blood tests (for example the "T cell quantification" I posted about the other day). A result for some specific test came back today. I don't know the name yet, but the result could indicate that I _might_ have an autoimmune disease called "Pemphigus vulgaris". If you look it up, it's a "chronic blistering skin disease", which often affects mucous membranes. If you look at pictures of Pemphigus vulgaris, EC is obviously quite different and doesn't look like it at all, but it's still interesting.

(Un)fortunately, with blood tests alone you can't say if I do have that disease, so the doctor said that two biopsies have to be done on my lip to rule it out / confirm it. :((( Of course this sucks as it will disturb my "moist healing" quite a bit, but nothing I can do I guess (and I haven't seen much progress anyway).

Anyway, trying not to give thought to it as much as it's still to early to tell if I even do have this. Has anyone else been tested for those kinds of conditions?
