Im glad i found this.
I have been thinking this for over 2 months now. I started oil pulling with coconut oil for teeth infections.
I did NOT have receding gums or bleeding gums.
I also have a tonsil cyst i hoped it would help with.
I am therapist and healer and i believed this was the correct choice after all my research, yes how hazardous could oil pulling be?
You'd think.
2 months later i wish id never started.
I wake up EVERY morning with dry blood and a dry mouth. Its digusting.
I also have noticed im starting to get receding gums and small pockets in the gum line! Teeth look longer and can see where the gum is eroding.
Also my tonsil cyst got worse and hasn't improved , even though i assumed it was a healing crisis. a 2 month long healing crisis shouldnt realy happen.
Yes my teeth always look very white after the OP.
I even read the book by Dr Bruce Fife and even emailed him my concerns to which he replied , yes youve guessd it "What harme can it do ?" (are you stupid response most people on here give you)
I want you to know that yes, OP can harm your gums and the reason is here. its quite simple.
Imagine all that bacteria swishing around your mouth? No matter how awesome a cleaner your oil is that bacteria resisdue doesnt all leave the mouth and will also be stuck to your teeth.
This is where after care is SO important and not many sites tell you this but its kind of common sense.
YOU MUST SUPER CLEAN your mouth afterwards and invest in an electric toothbrush. Use a Fluoride Free toothpaste(i Use Forever Living Sparkling Tootgel, you can buy online)
VERY VERY SLOWLY circle and clean around the gumline as the bacteria you swish does collect here its obvious. This then erodes your gum leading to receding and bleeding.

OR You need to the buy something like a Brushing Blend (ORAwellness are meant to be good , and you can either substitute that in place of toothpaste)
Then get a water pick and use this or floss, Waterpik beter as it can get out all the bacteria lurking there

If you think logically about it YES OP is bad for you if the Oil is left in there! Its worse than doing nothing actually as Oil warm from the mouth and combined with bacteria will obviously damage the gum if left!

Just one thing Just because there are no bad reviews online doesnt mean it is perfect. It just means people havent been bothered to write or have just stopped it when it didnt work

I will still Oil Pull once every fortnight and I also use a drop or oregano oil and co enzyme q10 for infections and THOROUGHLT CLEAN after. The reason i wont do it every day is that the cleaning of teeth need to be thorough so every day would not be good for gums
It annoys me when people dismiss OP as being bad because its commone senses not all of the Oil will leave the mouth and the oil loaded with bacteria that they say is NO WAY safe to swallow , is perhaps getting stuck.

Like i say im 34 i have NEVER in my life had receding gums like this, it really upset me and the bleeding was getting ridiculous! I mean every morning and al through the day!
And they make you scare to constantly clean your teeth because of enamel erosion. I know of people who brush their teeth twice a day and have no problems so if your teeth feel dirty you must brush but just be reallly focuse on doing it right. No hard strokes, move from the gumline down and use a Sonicare brush a couple of times a week when they feek really grimy. Its the plaque that is causing the receding and bleeding and even if your teeth feel clean they will still be harbouring some bacteria.

I have heard Hydrogen Peroxide is good but i dont believe something you can only keep in your mouth for 3 seconds and that harmful can be good for you.

Like i say, try the Brushing Blend or the Aloe toothpaste for a fresh breath and deep cleaning. get a water pik to flush out hiding bacteria or just floss carefully.

And above all if something doesnt feel right you are your own best healer and other peoples opinions mean nothinh over gut instinct. Ive learned this the hard way.

I hope this helps and ill keep you updated in my progress also

Kind regards
