That's a terrible way to live....Alzheimer's that is. I'm sorry that you didn't get a chance to know him. Perhaps you could have pieced together why men get involved in such a thing as freemasonry.

My uncle was very nice to everyone. He loved to socialize and party. They didn't have any children, so when I was little, they loved to spend time with me. So I don't have bad memories at all.

When my aunt came down with Alzheimer's I lived with her for a few years because she didn't have anyone else to take care of her after her husband died. Plus with Alzheimer's, she was sort of mean to every nurse I hired to live with her. She kept running them off. :(

My aunt never saw anything wrong with him going to all these meetings. She just saw it as a place to go and be with other men...just like women like to join ladies clubs and groups. She only questioned it after a christian friend told her about what mason's believed within the lodges. So I'm thinking we have to get the word out to the wives of these men. Tell them about some good christian books on the subject that they can read and share with their husbands.

Did you know that because I'm a relative of a Mason, that if I ever need help, I can call upon another Mason and they are suppose to help me? I guess that applies to you too.

You have to admit, that from the outside they look good...they do good things. I can see why people get involved. However, it's after they have been a member and they learn the ropes, is what I don't understand. Is it really the oaths they take that keeps them in it? As far as I can tell my uncle never shared anything with my aunt. He apparently was able to leave and not attend the meetings anymore without any problems, but as his health went down so did his mental health. It may have been all normal part of aging and being ill, but sometimes I wonder. What makes them trust so much to take such an oath that involves death? I'm just asking questions out loud to myself.

Well hopefully in time the truth will come out. After all, if the mason's really didn't want us to find out...why would they let the members take home books where their families can read them? Granted, one of the books I found was in the attic...so it wasn't an easy find. But the other one was in his bedroom with his other books. I'm just glad I learned enough about it all to even recognize the books and not give them to a charity. I'm afraid they are a long and hard read, so it will be a while before I ever get them finished.
