Trust, I don't believe in bowing to anything except Jesus, my Savior. A formed piece of metal or wood into a religious symbol can be just a reminder of who I love...much like a man and woman wear a wedding ring to remember the love and promise they made to each other and to God. We don't bow or worship the rings, nor any graven image, nor believe there is any supernatural within them.

Some bow their knee in front of a statue of Mary or Jesus when they go to a catholic church. For me bowing is not a sign of just respect, but of worship. In some countries, kings expect a person to bow in front of them in respect and honor....some as a form of worship.

In some of the Pentecoastal churches, some will pray over a piece of cloth and then pass out pieces of that cloth to other members as a reminder of the healing that Jesus did when the woman only touched the hem of his robe and was healed. Should we believe there is supernatural power within the cloth itself....no. Would it be better if the person just had enough faith in Christ to be healed....yes. However, the power of the Holy Spirit meets us where we are NOW in our level of faith.

Faith in Christ is stimulated within us in different ways. Many of us would frown on any church service which had a con man pastor who did fake healings. Yet, many times actual healings took place anyway because it was the faith deep within the person or perhaps other people who believed that drew the real Holy Spirit power to heal them.

That is why we are to approach Christ with the faith of a child. As a child we don't understand everything but we believe in innocence. And as we believe with a faith of a child we start growing more and more as a christian. Not needing these little reminders (symbols) to draw on...for we know that the power of the Holy Spirit is now within us to draw on every day of our lives.
