SB1108,

In the 22 months I have been actively healing my AFS, I only tried adrenal glandular a couple of times. I found it too stimulating at normal doses. I had success taking a "tiny" portion of a capsule (perhaps 50mg)... but had better success with pregnenolone, DHEA and extra vitamin C when I needed heavy duty adrenal support (post crash states, etc). I don't know if the extra tissues are necessary, but a number of supplement formulators include them... so I am guessing there is some wisdom to the practice of combining.

In this later stage of recovery... I have gradually weaned off of the high doses of Vitamin C (as high as 8.5g per day) and B5 compounds (as high as 2400 mg per day) that I relied on when I needed heavy adrenal support.

I currently take:

1500mg Vitamin C
450mg pantethine
50mg of B6
4000 i.u. Vitamin D3
4 Xymogen T3 Medcaps
70 - 100 mg of thyroxine-free thyroid glandular (bovine)
6mg astaxanthin - for photosensitivity
5,000 to 7,000mg of inositol, per day... for OCD, depression
2 fish oil caps
400mg magnesium - at bedtime
30mg zinc - at bedtime

Most nights I do not need anything for sleep... but if I somehow get fired up and toss and turn... 2 - 4 caps of valerian root + some Seriphos and/ or 1mg of melatonin helps,... plus meditative breathing for as long as it takes to go into the zone.

If I am terribly crashed, having "fibro" pain and muscle issues - really suffering - the best sleep medication I have found is the muscle relaxant Soma (carisoprodol). Effective, side effect / hangover free, and probably very habit forming if used on consecutive nights. I would not advise taking it more than a 2 - 3x a month.
