i have a similar story. about a year and a half ago, i noticed a small spot on the right side of my face. it was pinkish waxy and resembled every picture of basil cell i googled. it wasnt a mole, i have plenty of those that ive had all my life. this was definitely new. i tried picking at it a few times and it would bleed but it wouldnt heal. i had lived under the harsh sun in FL for about 3 years as a beach bum with little sunblock. i am originally from NY. i dont drive, have a permit but never a license- so the spot being on the right side could be from me sitting as the passenger in my boyfriends car. im 31 years old, smoked for about 10 years & tanned at the beach regularly since ive moved to FL. i got pretty freaked out about the spot, especially after i googled MOHS surgery & saw the terrible pics with deep huge holes cut out of people & stiches all over peoples noses. i started reading about Iodine painting and bought myself Iodine 2% tincture from CVS. i started painting the spot with the iodine. i put a small amount on 3-5 times a day for about 4 days until it turned into a dark red hard crusty scab. i was a little nervous because it was very noticeable on the side of my face about the size of a pencil eraser (the original pink spot was very small the size of an average zit, i painted a little extra around it)i promised myself i wouldnt pick it. i was begining to worry it would leave a permanent red spot. after a little less than a week later the scab fell off. my skin was normal colored underneath & the spot was almost gone. i did another round of painting & the spot was completely gone. i did 1 more round of painting because i read some where that you should let the skin crust up at least 3 times to get rid of it. its been a year and a half & you would never notice anything was ever there. ive since bought J.CROWS Lugols 5% Iodine and have treated other spots including a small brown sun spot and a mole wich are completely gone. i mix one small drop into a dime size amount of my cerave night lotion and put it on my face every few days. i also put one drop into my water once a week. i feel great & for the first time in my life i think my skin looks great.
