I have tried to read through previous posts but there are just too many and I don't see any that address what I am experiencing. I am 36 yrs old. this is a given but still necessary to state, I have had much worse Acne on the mirena than before. I had my tubes tied after my 3rd child. About 3 yrs later I began to have a constant cycle. Mostly spotting but lasted months. They tried the pill but did not stop the constant spotting. My insurance at the time would not cover an ablasion but odly enough it would cover their next suggestion the mirena. So that's what we did. It took 6 months to stop the spotting and bleeding. We were finally going to take it out when it stopped within a week of making the decision. 2 yrs later. . . Still horrible acne, mood swings although nothing as severe as what I have read on this board. (The only pro is that I no longer have a cycle, this is huge in my book). However, I recently noticed itchy, discoloration in my left breast. I contacted my plastics that did my implants 2 yrs earlier for a copy of my pics. They were both normal at the time. And by discoloration, I mean it appears like someone has bleached out the areola portion of my breast. So I googled my symptoms. Scary! I went to my gyn who took me serious and ran the necessary tests to rule out Paget's. (I need to add that it is very dry, flakey, and I have noticed leaking(milk) once or twice over the last 6 months)He also tested the expression to make sure there was nothing other than milk. There wasn't. He ran my blood work to check prolactin levels, which I have not gotten the results as of yet. Biopsy came back as eczema. And he referred me to a dermatologist. On my way home today I started connecting dots. Is it possible, that the mirena is creating such a hormone imbalance causing me to produce very small amounts of milk that leak so slightly I dont always notice but enough to keep the areola moist, therefore causing the "eczema"? Or am I way off base? I cannot find anything on the internet to support my theory. I go back for my yearly in a few weeks and I am going to have him take it out at that time. Sorry for the long post.
