Amy - I completely understand what you are saying. I just recently received my test results back from TEI and the supplement protocol they recommended was just not going to work for me... As soon as I saw it, I knew it wasn't the right fit.
For example, I am currently having to avoid calcium supplements and high calcium foods because the dosage I was on at ARL made me develop calcium deposits in my knees. Even though I told the TEI practitioner about this... the practitioner wanted me to take calcium anyway (completely irrational). I also told the practitioner that I was unable to tolerate copper supplements because of copper toxicity. Didn't matter...the practitioner wanted me to stick with the recommendations. I felt like the practitioner wasn't listening to my concerns.
I'm not saying ARL is the best either because they have also recommended that I take copper and calcium. There needs to be some flexibility with the computer recommendations and the patient's individual needs.
The whole idea of NB is something I completely agree with - It really has helped me tremendously to address certain deficiencies and toxicities. But I think a key is finding a practitioner that is knowledgable, understanding, and FLEXIBLE (which BTW - I haven't found yet).
