Regarding burkhas, you might be interested in knowing that Afghanistan is
the only Moslem society in the world where they are compulsory attire
for women outside the home. They are used as one of various tools for
oppression of women, something which the Taliban excels at.
In other Moslem countries women "merely" have to wear
a head scarf (in some) and head scarf and veil (in others). Something
tells me you would not much enjoy being covered from head to toe, with
just a small grille in the fabric through which to see, especially in
90-120 degree temperatures. Especially if you were *compelled* to wear
such a garment every time you stepped outside the confines of your home.
How about getting arrested for a forearm showing while you're riding
(not driving, not permitted) a car? I didn't make any of this up!
