I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. I can't say I'm at all surprised. A close female friend had a very bad experience on just 100mg per day for a week or so. Sadly a year later she still has not fully recovered from it.

The mice in this study did not do so well when they received infrequent ALA. NOtice they ended up with more Hg in the brain even though they excreted more than controls. Cutler explains why.

i strongly suggest that you consider taking generous doses of antioxidants--vitamin C, E selenium as well as magnesium and zinc. Much more could be said!
