My hair started thinning badly due to stress and parasites. I use a 50/50 solution of castor oil/VCO left on overnight, wash it out with Dawn and use a borax/acv rinse. I put 1 tsp. of borax and 1 tbsp. of vinegar in a liter of water to rinse it. Also take biotin. My hair has gotten much thicker since I started this. I was doing it daily, but it got to be too much, so now I just do it every other day or 3 times a week.
