I had read somewhere here on curezone that butter is a good source for butyrate. I was about to buy the supplement form in order to experiment with retention enemas for my colitis which tends to flare on and off depending on what I eat, stress, etc. the price for butyrate is high for my budget right now, so I was thinking maybe I should try the butter enema first and see if I got any good results. I ended up finding out that ghee also has the butyrate in it so I went with organic grass fed ghee for my first try at it.
I woke up this morning with a flare up of about 5 (of 1-10 pain) I went a week without any flare or colitis pain and so I decided today was the day I would try the ghee retention enema. I used one of those fleet enema bottles (emptied out the original contents and cleaned) melted about 2 tbs of ghee, poured in pyrex glass to measure, added same amount of water which cooled down the ghee enough to administer the enema. was pretty easy and actually quite soothing. I lay down for about 5 minutes on left side and then got up to do some chores. didn't even notice it was in there. after about an hour I got the urge to expel. and I have been pain free for about 5 hours now!
I'm curious if anyone else out there has ever experimented with butter or ghee enemas. or even butyrate supplement enemas. would the supplement be even more powerful? I'd love to know your thoughts!
