I think only NP can answer your question, however, I can offer my own experience with the use of the dwell time/frequencies.

I'm almost exclusively using only SG-1A (called the "magic bean" here on this forum) with my F165.

The most important thing that I found out and confirmed again and again and again is that if there is a "match" between the pathogen and the frequency - meaning if the frequency is a "kill" frequency for a given pathogen then even a very short dwell time will injure/kill the pathogen.
Then you need to "play" with the dwell depending on the load/volume of that specific pathogen, so obviously if the infection is a heavy one, you need to run the specific "kill" frequency for a long time and/or until the pathogen is totally eliminated from the body.

This is strictly based on my own experience and it could be working for different people differently but I learned during these past several years while using SG-1A/F165 that the best outcome I get when there is a "match" as I said above.

And it does not matter where the frequency comes from - NP's scripts, CAFL, DNA sets - what really seems to matter most is what pathogen you have and if you're using the "right"/that specific pathogen kill frequency. Dwell seems to be relevant only to the volume/infection level/heaviness/load or whatever you want to call it.
Some of them (pathogens) get killed very fast but because they reproduce almost immediately then you need to have either a repetition in a loop or longer dwell.
