After giving my son rice bran oil which is anti inflammatory, my son who has severe autism has now advanced to using 5 mil of fluconazole a day which he could not tolerate before the rice bran oil. Initially a long time ago I gave him a soil based probiotic which he ended up reacting badly to. I have spoken to an autism paediatrician who suggest that he stays on fluconazole for at least 3 months and possibly longer keeping an eye on him as he has seen many children who can not tolerate nystatin do very well on fluconazole when the treatment is lengthened and the dose possibly increased. He does not want to treat my son with Antibiotics at this stage as he says many studies now show that lactobacillus gg is well worth trying at a very small dose to start with 1 billion bacteria which he believes will help crowd out the bad bacteria watching for any adverse reactions at which stage he will be reviewed. He informs me that only allergy testing is worth trying and not to chuck my money away on food intolerance testing as they are not reliable enough. Many of his food intolerances have subsided whilst taking fluconazole. He informs me that a short course of fluconazole at two weeks in many children with autism is not long enough to get the bad bacteria under control. Vegetables are causing bad bloating, drinks several cups of cold water to deal with this at the moment which may suggest fermentation however he is due to have camera's up and down and the laxative to clear him out will help get rid of the bad bacteria and maybe beneficial to him. After the camera's he will reassess ranitidine that my son takes as it is possible to be weaned from ranitidine. He informs me that my son should have a flu jab as there will be no mercury in it as to catch flu with an immune system not functioning properly will be very bad for him at this stage and we need to weigh up the risks on both sides. My autism paediatrician is NHS served in the U.K. Rice bran oil has been the key to my son's success so far and does not feed candida.
