I had to get an Amalgam filling removed while breastfeeding my 4-month-old who won't take a bottle. I went to a dentist who took precautions and I took lots of chlorella (which binds mercury but as I understand it doesn't detox it into the milk like Vitamin C and other detox methods are supposed to). The dentist had a chlorella gel for my mouth just after. I went to a natural pharmacist who recommended ACZnano which helps to rid the body (and breastmilk!) of heavy metals and toxins. It is safe while breastfeeding. We can only do our best! I strongly believe that just by thinking about what can harm our babies, it is obvious that we eat well and take care of our bodies and our babies in a way that will prepare them better to handle toxins. Amalgam fillings have been around for 100 years, and it is likely that our mothers had them inserted while breastfeeding us. We are more aware now and justifiably concerned, but I know for me - I have to keep the paranoia at bay. Try to cleanse the body in a way that does not leach the mercury into the breastmilk, and give my baby as much natural defenses for the world that I can.
