Sodium Percarbonate is in fact liquid air when mixed with water. It will break up the biomat and restore water flow. You'll need about 40 lbs of sodium percarbonate mixed in water added over 4 days. After that, in order to keep your septic field aerated, I suggest adding a settling tank between your septic tank and your D Box, and then add an inexpensive aerator to this tank. I was recently looking at some nice 250 gal tanks at my nearest Tractor Supply store. Your septic plumber can also add a settling tank for you. I think the IDEAL is to add a small dual chamber septic tank between your D-Box and your original septic tank, then aerate the input to this tank, and then the output chamber of this tank will be the settling chamber.

He actually placed an aerator into his D-Box, such that when water started to rise in the D-Box, the aeration direct to the leachfield would be at its best! I LOVE this idea.

The input side of your tank will be within 4 feet of the output side. Use a ground probe or a rebar with pointed end to push into the soil to find the outline of your tank, then dig up the far end of your tank to find the input side manhole. It should be between the output manhole and your house.

IMO, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ADD AN AERATOR to your single chamber septic tank. It will stir up & mix the sludge, scum & new solids into a septic soup that can cause serious problems in your effluent filter & septic field. I really don't think it is possible to prevent this "Soup" from causing serious problems in your septic field.

If you don't have an effluent filter in your exit pipe, I suggest adding one. I think you should also add a D-Box riser to make access easy for maintenance easier.
