It could have actually been the probiotic that did the trick. You said you only took it 2 or 3 times, but if it established a colony in your gut, it could have grown from there without you needing to supply any more. Babies are obviously only born once, but the inoculation of bacteria from the mother's vagina seems to be sufficient to colonize their guts for life.
