Do you really need that much of the elemental iodine? I made an SSKI with only 1/2% elemental added. While elemental is needed it is also what causes problems at high dose levels because of the oxidation you mentioned. I have never experienced any negative reaction to SSKI even at multi-gram levels. Maybe continue your Lugols at just 12mg a day and add some of trappers SSKI to even out your keel.
