Hi there,
My cat has dermatitis - can't remember the full name, it is a skin disorder triggered by parasites. Was firstly told it was auto immune disease, then told later it was actually this skin disorder, the vet said it is on the same parr as auto immune disease though. He hasn't had any fleas or anything like that for a long time now. He has been on steroids for quite some time now, the condition is so much better than it used to be but not completely gone, still has a bit on his head and I have to have a collar on the poor boy's head so he won't scratch it and make it worse.
Been doing some research and it sounds like probiotics could help so I'm thinking of giving these a try for him. Just a bit worried, does anyone know are these safe for him to take whilst being on steroids? Or does he need to be off steroids first? I would rather take him off them after he's been on probiotics for a while and if the probiotics do actually help the condition as I know the seroids are not good for his health, is this safe to do whilst he is on probiotics also? Would really appreciate advice on this as I don't want to do anything to harm him.
Also, my cat is currently eating just normal at food from shops, is it safe for him to take probiotics whilst eating this diet, or is it essential that he be eating a super healthy Diet before taking probiotics?
Would reeeeallly appreciate help with this! Thank you.
