Robmidi,
I have had gastric bypass surgery (2003) but in the last year my PTH has been around or above 200. My calcium has bounced from 9 to 10.3 and in between. My 24 hour urine was high and I have a history of kidney stones. My vitamin D is low. My sestamibis and ultrasounds at Cedars Sinai and UCLA were all negative. One surgeon doesn't want to operate, another wants to wait three months and double my prescription vitamin D to 100,000 per week. Another wants to do exploratory. I have almost all the symptoms listed on parathyroid.com and getting worse, including full blown osteoporosis at the age of 43. I am thinking about sending my labs to dr. Norman in Tampa, for him to look at for a fee. Do you recommend this? I thought that since I've had gastric bypass that he would not even consider me for a patient. Any feedback on him would be greatly appreciated! I'm glad your wife is doing so much better!!!
