Thought this was interesting. There seems to be a clear correlation between inflammatory skin diseases and staph infection.
"There are a number of types of Staph bacteria that are present on people’s skin. Most are harmless. The reports below deal with one problematic strain – Staphylococcus aureus. One of the reports makes the point that over half the people with Psoriasis have this strain of Staph bacteria on their skin (lesions as well as unaffected skin), the throat, and/or nose. The problem is that these bacteria produce proteins that, if they are able to get into our bodies, can produce an inflammatory response. These proteins are called “superantigens” because they can trigger the production of high levels of inflammatory cytokines."
