IRON CURED MY RLS (don't assume low average iron is enough.) by LoricaLady ..... Restless Legs Syndrome Forum

I started having restless leg syndrome this month. Looked it up on the net. They said it may be due to low iron. Now I eat very little meat and have regularly supplemented with iron for years. However, apparently when my last bottle of iron ran out I didn't make a note to get more and things got lost in the shuffle with my many other vitamin bottles. When I saw iron could be the culprit I refelcted that I hadn't been taking it for - how long? As soon as I took the iron - I megadosed to tell the truth - the rls went away overnight.

Now, in the past I was told my iron was fine but I was getting dizzy. This was years ago. I took more iron anyway and the dizziness went away. The point? Blood tests are often not accurate for you. You have to learn to be your own diagnostician and go by symptosm.

A doctor who practiced for decades told me that blood tests are not always accurate. He also said that what they are calling "normal" is really average. He said that in the past, in his experience, people were more healthy and that average really was normal then. So, don't just go for "normal"/average, especailly low average, go for optimal & listen to your symptoms (as he did) and not just quikc in and quick out blood tests from doctors.
