Could also be the bldg. You can buy mold detection kits online That consist of petri dishes that you set out in the areas that you spend the majority of time.  So they test the environment. Not sure if the test came back positive how you would test individual pieces of furniture. Ask.

After a certain amount of hours you close them up and send them in and they do the test results and notify you.

Mine tested negative for mold.
