This is my take on Colloidal Silver and candida yeast infections for what its worth:

I find it best to use Colloidal Silver as part of a formula and not in isolation. Before penicillin was discovered in 1934, silver was one of the main things used to fight infectious disease. It is interesting how Antibiotics have been showing increasing resistance, but Colloidal Silver shows no such thing.
I’ve been recommending colloidal silver in my clinic for over twenty years for all manner of infections, cuts, coughs and colds, all eye problems, ear, nose and throat and more recently for yeast infections.

How Does Colloidal Silver Work?
There are several ways how colloidal silver works in yeast infections, but here are the most common ways:

1. Colloidal silver has a strong Antibiotic and sterilizing-like activity against many species of bacteria and viruses. As soon as it comes into contact with any anaerobic bacteria it starts to kill them. Silver has been known to purify and cleanse for over one hundred years.

2. Colloidal silver is an antifungal agent in its own right, and has proven to be more effective than even Fluconazole when it comes to yeast infections.

3. Colloidal silver has a supporting effecting on wound healing and can heal many different types of inflammations and wounds, both internal as well as external.

A Korean study published in the Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology demonstrated that colloidal silver is an excellent antifungal in its own right and showed potent activity against clinical isolates of various fungal strains. Research revealed that silver nano-particles (colloidal silver) were very effective against Candida species (yeast infections, vaginal thrush) as well as trichophyton species (athlete’s foot, jock itch and ring worm, hair, scalp and nail fungus).

It is interesting to note that colloidal silver in this study was shown to be equally effective against fungal strains as Amphotericin B (potent antifungal drug). Even more interesting is that it was found to be superior to Diflucan, a widely used drug otherwise known as Fluconazole, widely prescribed to women with vaginal thrush.

I’m not a fan of recommending colloidal silver on its own in the treatment of chronic or severe yeast infections, for the simple reason that most people who do use it, simply use too much at the beginning and experience strong aggravations as their yeast infection dies off. For this reason, if you are going to use colloidal silver internally, the dosage should be small at first, only once per day. After three days step it up to twice daily, and at the end of the week try three times daily.
I use and recommend a silver supplement with a minimum potency of 40 ppm and with a micron size of no more than .001.

Worried about the safety of colloidal silver?

There is a lot of nonsense written about the toxicity of colloidal silver, but tap water is probably more toxic, especially if you live in a big city and drink plenty of it. You may want to check out the silversafety.org website and work out exactly your own daily, weekly or annual limit of how much is OK to use.
Dr. Jeffrey Blumer, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the Center for Drug Research (the world’s largest clinical research center for drugs) and former director of the Greater Cleveland Poison Control Center, has this to say about colloidal silver:
“Common substances like table salt and aspirin are harmless with normal use, but excessive intake can become toxic and even life-threatening. With normal responsible usage, silver supplements are entirely harmless to humans.”
