Pretty much the worst thing you can give someone who has been doing an extended fast is sugar, see this thread : //www.curezone.org/forums/am.asp?i=1997359


Depending on his underlying health, sitting up too soon or drinking too much water would not usually cause a problem, however in this case I wouldn't like to say.

The best thing you could have done is give him a rehydration solution to replace lost salts and potassium.
