Thanks! That's quite an analysis. But from what I see it confirms that, in general, one's body temperature is lower in the early AM and is roughly 97.8 - 98.2 (depending on, among other things, how the temperature is taken). No where in this report do I see that a morning temperature of 99.1 is normal let along optimal.

I do find especially interesting the variation in accuracy of the methods of taking one's temperature. Of course I've heard of this variation before but this is the first time I've seen it quantified, which helps enormous. So, for example, oral thermometers show a body temperature 0.6 degrees lower than the more accurate rectal thermometer. Ear thermometers are 0.9 degrees too low. No doubt a great many people think their body temperatures are low when in fact they're normal.
