Lichen sclerosus (LS) is classified as an 'autoimmune disease' and regardless of whether that classification fits, it has much in common with other diseases in that group. Therefore, things that may help other diagnoses (DXes) may also help LS.
Consider an anti-inflammatory diet. Eliminate gluten and dairy from your daily diet. Then, cook anything that is high in lectins, which are very inflammatory, for at least 20 minutes in a pressure cooker to destroy the lectins. (Potato, tomato, eggplant and other nightshades; dried beans and peas; peanuts;soybeans).
Consider supplements which area anti-inflammatory such as evening primrose oil, veggie DHA, or cod liver oil.
Topically, using Estrace (for women) can thicken the skin so that you take less damage from the Clobestol, which can help to clear it up. Emu oil or virgin organic coconut oil will soak in and help moisten the skin. (Purple emu oil (a brand not the color) is organic, and ebay has the best price on a non-organic emu oil).
Protandim is an herbal supplement that fights oxidative stress of oligodendrocytes. There is evidence that LS is connected to oxidative stress. So, it may help your body fight the LS.
