Congratulations on your progress. If you have digestion woes I would suggest you go on a low carb Paleo diet (no grains, no dairy, no starchy veggies). It has worked wonders for myself and many others. This diet is also known as the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD). It is great that you are looking to improve your diet/lifestyle to make yourself the best you can be.
One thing I fear about this forum is that folks look to Iodine supplementation as an "Easy button". Just take a few pills each day and it will compensate for an indifferent (or bad) diet, excess alcohol consumption, no exercise, smoking, etc. Sadly, life doesn't work this way. Serious attention to diet/lifestyle should be the *primary* focus. Yes, it is hard work. But most will tell you it is WELL worth the effort. Stuff like Iodine supplementation is complementary. In fact I would not encourage Iodine supplementation up front or else it would be viewed as a crutch. I'd push HARD on the diet/lifestyle stuff and then suggest iodine supplementation once stability is reached. (Of course for those with cancer or some other urgent health matter need to do it all at once, which I'd imagine would be very hard on the body.)
Yes, iodine can work wonders. But for myself it pales in comparison to what diet has done for me. Quite simply, I am a completely overhauled individual thanks to a careful, nutritious diet.
