I searched for many years before I found my first Ginseng and first Goldenseal. Both are basically considered on the endangered list in the USA and thats why when you buy it commerically it is always garden grown.

With Ginseng the government only allows a season when the seed is mature and then you must dig only 3+ year old roots and plant the seeds where you dug the plant, otherwise they will fine you! Once you have the eye for these plants you can find them if they are there! Once hooked, you will find yourself walking many,many miles in search and thats when your nicknamed a "sang" man. I love to hunt for them, but don't have the time anymore! The call to the wild is there but too many inslaved responsibilities at home to get away.
