I would say don't make any assumption until you confirmed the pathogen.
Many could do that including giardia. I have chronic giardia don't remember the acute phase but yellow grey stool fatty ones very smelly plus sulphur like burp is usually associated with giarrdia. Fat intolerance as well as simple carbs.

Try to retest to be sure it's giardia. If you have different bug treatment is different. Also acute phase treatment differ a bit from the chronic one.

But ... As a general rule simple carbs sugars white bread fatty meals sweet fruits are not recommended for giardia. Very clean acidophilus like kirkman labs plus vitamin C (check the ingredients no hidden sugars) plus coconut oil usually helps keep it in control IF it's giardia or hpilory.

I did MANY stool sample before confirmed it was giardia. Took me two years to find out and to find the above 3 quick remedies. After you stabilized you could start the treatment.
