Hi community! I have been dealing with cold sores for most of my adult life.
Here is the arsenal that works for me.
If you get an outbreak, I have discovered that applying liquid oxygen is really helpful, it can reduce the sore to almost nothing overnight. I bought mine on amazon. Just apply a drop or two every couple of hours for the first 24 hours. This is my newest arsenal. Discovered it by mistake when I didn't have anything else in the house to put on it.
Here is what has worked for me in the past:
The number one prevention is l-lysine and avoiding foods that have L-arginine in it. I take 1000 mg to 2000mg at night at bedtime.
For outbreaks, when I was in college I got an outbreak, went to the doctor and he gave me a vit b-12 shot . Outbreak was gone overnight. However
It is tuff to get doctors now adays to do it. So I suck on vit b12 lozenges
About one every hour or so during the first 24 hours. Seems to help.
Peppermint oil is affective to put on the sore but takes longer to kill it.
Have used BHT also very affective. No side affects for me. Internal
Have heard that red wine rubbed on the sore frequently also helps.
The best method I have found is to attack the outbreak from the inside and outside really really hard in the first 24 hours.
Ice will also kill a sore but it takes keeping ice on constantly in the first 24 hours.
I am going to try bitter melon to my arsenal as well.
Abrevia also helps somewhat.
Kind regards everyone! Hope this helps.
Also check out LDN or low-dose naltrexone to balance and boost immune systems.
