Think digestion before anything. If the food is not digested properly, there will be a poor utilization of the elements needed for detox and recovery.
The same counts for supplements. Took me ages to be able to absorb magnesium. (stay away from calcium / dicalcium phosphate in supplements as it may neutralize the stomach acid, needed for absorbing magnesium and other minerals)

"Glutathione is Magnesium-Dependent
Glutathione protects the cells from oxidative-stress-induced apoptosis and glutathione levels are magnesium dependent! Glutathione is a very important detoxifying agent, enabling the body to get rid of undesirable toxins and pollutants. It forms a soluble compound with the toxin that can then be excreted through the urine or the gut. The liver and kidneys contain high levels of glutathione as they have the greatest exposure to toxins. The lungs are also rich in glutathione partly for the same reason. Many cancer-producing chemicals, heavy metals, drug metabolites etc. are disposed of in this way."

If eating even real food make you unwell, I would think the stomach acid is not strong enough / low Ph needed. (typical symptoms would be gas, belching, pains; as the food is fermented, not digested)
Vit B and zinc is a good start for the stomach acid, then real salt; some apple cider vinegar is good too.
Iodine also needed for the stomach acid.

Digestion has been my weakest system for more than two decades, (IBS, pains) Before Iodine I would say it worked 40-50 % of an optimal level. I was in a bad shape, even if eating healthy and taking good natural supplements.

Now I would say it is up to 95 %, just very minor things left, and only if I cheat on the diet.
