Digestion is always an issue but you have to make sure there aren't any peptic ulcers before the HCL.

Anyone here knows that the easy way to fix those is to use Medical Grade Cayenne (slowly), which is getting really hard to find btw.

To be sure that is covered you can try Ascorbic Acid, only use the completely dissolved parts in water. Any ulcer will hurt when the Ascorbic Acid hits it.
