Hello All...I love this forum! I too have had Mirena and finally figured out I developed horrible side effects from it!

I had it inserted six weeks after delivery, on Nov 14, 2012. First month 'seemed' good. (I had Paragard before but didn't like heavy bleeding so chose Mirena for little to no periods)

About month two after insertion, I noticed occasional 'breathing issues' where I couldn't seem to get a full breath. It could happen while standing doing dishes or even sitting reading. I also seemed more tired than normal and also had foggy brain but blamed this on now having three kids under 5. I had pretty bad headaches. I also had started having these strange anxiety attacks but never experienced that before in my life. But then right at 3 months after insertion I woke up, made the family breakfast, hubby went to work..and the breathing thing hit again but DID NOT go away. Long story short..it was consistent and so I went to the doc. Had lung Xray, Pulmonary Function Test, asthma test, then was sent to heart doc..EKG, echo, and stress test. ALL come back NORMAL!! I was also diagnosed with B12 deficiency which am not taking shots and oral supplements for.

I did feel 'weird' so had my OB check to make sure Mirena was still there..couldn't explain how I felt, just not myself. She said Mirena would not cause my symptoms.

Three 1/2 weeks ago I woke up and my left hip joint hurt..hurt to walk. I tried to relieve the pain to no avail. So stinking frustrated.

I asked my husband how he felt I was doing over the past few months and he said I have seemed off and frazzled. Other symptoms I sat down and thought about over the past four months: constant low grade fever, vision hard to focus at times, constantly bloated feeling, headaches, zero sex drive, nausea, vaginal itching, skin itching (felt like it was not just the top layer), tingling hands, left abdominal pain, insomnia, Depression bouts,

Enough was enough...after all the other lab test came back fine, I researched more and found this site and a few others with women's stories. I WAS SHOCKED..pretty much cried.

I had the Mirena removed yesterday 3/27 at 12 noon. By 10 pm I could tell an improvement on my breathing. By morning it was even better. I was so surprised to find my left hip pain also gone. Now it has tweaked a couple times today but I would say 90% better. I have not had a headache today and I am looking forward to even better days ahead. I know it will take time, and I am a little nervous to see if I have a 'crash' but in the end I am so thankful I got it out.
