Hi hawskfan,

I know what you're thinking - vit C, cortisol etc to increase adrenal function. I've done all of these for the last few years and never felt better and couldn't understand why. It was only till i recently went to see a TCM (traditional Chinese Medicine) practitioner, who explained to me that the adrenals are part of the kidneys(hub of the body's energy power) so focusing only on the adrenals is misguided and futile. Adrenals are only signal indicators of stressors in the body and mind not the cause. He explained that western medicine only focuses on body parts when in Chinese medicine, the body is like a tree, the branches (including head and limbs) are the branches and it is the core of the trunk (gut, heart and lungs) that nourishes those branches so physical healing has to start there. So he said my focus should be the kidneys first (main vessel of energy production as oppposed to adrenals) and so he gave me some herbs for the kidneys. And i must say all the bloating etc that I was suffering most severely at the time completely disappeared after three days on the kidney herbs.

Unfortunately, I started on the NB protocol and have not gone back to see him for next step of treatment to work on the rest of the "trunk". But my ARL lab results confirms kidney dysfunction and seems to be in alignment with the way TCM works. So here I am. But if i had not received an insight to TCM I would have blindly kept trying to focus only on the adrenals when the kidneys and gut were crying out for help which in turn would nourish the body and thus signal the adrenals that everything is ok again, giving them the rest they need. Adrenals are only a sign something is stressing your body, not the cause of your ailments. When the body's system works the adrenals will recover . A bit confusing I know,I probably haven't explained it properly but i hope you get the gist of it. For me, I really enjoyed learning about TCM explanation for my chronic fatigue, made lots of sense to me as to why focusing on the adrenals was not working.
