The original name was rape seed oil. They changed it, for a good reason. Money.

It could be a good lubrication for mechanics though, as neither soap or solvents can dissolve this oil.

Try heating it to the smoke point, then let it sit for a few days on a plate in light and oxygen. It will form a very sticky mass. Smells terrible; like a mixture of paint and bad fish oil.

Thats how I weaned off I couple of rape-seed oil believers.
They now use butter :)
