It is likely that my peeling lips are caused by celiac disease. My celiac disease may cause fissures in my lips as well as weaken my immunity. These conditions can make it easier for staph bacteria to enter lips.

Because skin biopsies often do not show staph bacteria, I wonder if many of us have it without knowing it. The biofilm produced by staph bacteria sounds very similar to the white slime we get on our lips. "Of importance is the sticky-looking substance woven between the round cocci bacteria, which is composed of polysaccharides and is known as “biofilm.” This biofilm has been found to protect the bacteria that secrete the substance from attacks by antimicrobial agents such as Antibiotics , resulting in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA."

Others have said only triple- Antibiotic cream works on their lips, and this what is used to treat staph bacteria.
