A possible reason for why I asked:

Sulbutiamine (brand name: Arcalion) is a synthetic derivative of thiamine (vitamin B1).

Vitamin B1 Deficiency
Certain medical conditions, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, alcoholism, liver disease, and chronic diarrhea increase the risk of thiamine deficiency.
History: Symptoms of thiamine deficiency are numerous and most individuals with this condition experience some but not all possible symptoms. Early symptoms may include tiredness (fatigue), abdominal discomfort, sleep disturbances, memory problems, loss of appetite (anorexia), weight loss, and irritability.
Treatment
If another disease, such as alcoholism, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, or chronic diarrhea is involved, treatment of this underlying condition is important for recovery. If the physician believes that a well-balanced diet will not be maintained, as in malnutrition due to extreme poverty, alcoholism, or eating disorders, dietary supplements may be prescribed for regular use.
