Whenever I have a problem like constipation I first like to try natural methods. With this problem the only really natural solutions are various fiber therapies such as Metamucil or Miralax. Metamucil, and other fibers, only made the problem worse for me. Miralax caused terrible bloating and generally made me feel awful. I'm not sure I could call Miralax a natural therapy anyway. The only other solutions I could find were stimulants such as senna or milk of magnesia. Even though these work they aren't recommended in the long term as they cause dependency or can leach electrolytes from the body. I had had success with acupuncture for other issues so I decided to try it next. Dr. Moon is a well known acupuncturist in Newport Beach, California. I went to him to see if Chinese medicine could offer any answers. It was my luck that he was the inventor the Sitolonic device.
I began using the Sitolonic in 2005. I had seen other personal colonic devices where you have to lay on a board and all, and I would never have wanted to use one of those. They looked cumbersome and uncomfortable. The Sitolonic is unique in that you use it in the natural position. This fact actually makes it a pleasure rather than a pain. Here's what Dr. Moon has to say about it:
"A revolutionary development in colonic irrigation therapy,
the Sitolonic allows you to sit up while cleansing your colon.
This advantageous position is not only a natural eliminating position,
it also saves you time by allowing you to simultaneously read,
write, compute, or talk on the phone."
The Sitolonic is FDA approved and very easy to use. You simply screw a connector on to the end of your sink faucet that allows a hose to be attached securely to it. The hose passes warm water from the sink through an in line filter into a 5 gallon plastic bag. The bag is very durable and is made to hang on a door or other hook. I like to use a sturdy metal clothes hook that fits over the top of the door. It also has a rope that will go over the top of the door. From the bag the water flows through another tube to the plastic Rectaltip. The Rectaltip is held by a stainless steel plate that fits on any toilet. Then all you do is put some lubricant such as Vaseline on the tip and insert. A hose clamp prevents the water from flowing until you are ready. When ready the warm water flows in gently and does the job. A treatment will last about 60 - 90 minutes. If you can reach the faucet handles from where you are sitting you can refill the bag as necessary.
This procedure is not messy and all the parts are easy to clean up and stow. They can be packed conveniently in a suitcase, as well, which is good news for travelers. Constipation while traveling is a big problem even for those who do not usually suffer from it. Eating foods you are not used to and being off your natural schedule can cause a lot of discomfort in this area. With Sitolonic you have this completely under your control. If you are a business person who must travel frequently I would highly recommend this product.
I have had my Sitolonic now for over 7 years. It comes with 3 tips which will last quite a while. I have had only once to replace the hoses, filter, and get some new tips. The bag and plate are still in good condition. The initial cost is quite high compared to other methods but if you want something that gives you not only complete control and reliability, but peace of mind, Sitolonic is well worth the price. Take a look...
