Hi everyone,

Thank you all very much for your comments. I appreciate it!

So I stopped the Movicol recently and changed temporarily to a liquid called Laxose, it seemed milder than the Movicol and 2 spoons seemed to work better than 2 sachets of horrible Movicol. I did that for about 10 days and then stopped and I am off all laxative now and intend to stay that way. I want to stop the enema's too eventually but I figure that the laxatives are doing, and have done far more damage than the warm water enema I give myself.

I do 300ml daily with my enema syringe and once a week I go two litres. It does help, even though I use the enema to move things along I have noticed a big difference in what I pass compared to how it was on the Movicol. The Movicol completely wrecked my peristalsis. Now when I take the 300ml I notice that formed stools come out with the enema water compared to what was happening with the laxative. I seem to pass wind more freely now without the laxative too.

I think the Movicol was making my colon so lazy that it could not even form a stool or push out wind. It just bloated me up horribly, made me feel like crap and did nothing to help eliminate the unformed stools. Now, with just the small enema and a diet that's free from all white food, it feels better. My whole digestive system seems to be working better without the Movicol. Hopefully soon I can quit the enemas completely, although they make me feel so good and clean inside that I may not ever stop using them. I have started drinking 8 ounces of prune juice now daily to see if that gets me moving naturally and strengthens up my muscles so that I can restore the peristalsis.

Its so funny, I went to the doctor with a fecal impaction back in January and she gave me so much laxative with no real warning of the side affects, and that caused all the problems. Had she just given me an enema instead of 2 boxes of Movicol to treat it, it would have solved everything and I wouldn't have had the issues that followed. I am just lucky I wised up to it after 3 months and lots of advice on this site, rather than 2 years down the line with peristalsis completely gone. Fingers crossed the re-training works for me and any advice on anything that helped yourselves would be great!!
