I know this thread is more than a year old but I had to post my story to say thanks to all the ladies who shared vital information and hopefully I might help someone else going through this painful ordeal, which I wouldn't wish on anyone!

This was the first time I experienced something like this. It started out as what I called a pimple on the inside if the labia , which I didn't think much of. Friday night I went to a party and I was wearing tight pants which was irritating it. by Saturday night i was having trouble sleeping because being in my side put pressure on it and i had to to sleep with a pillow between my legs. By Sunday morning it was the size of a pea and painful enough that I knew something was up. I tried looking online to see what it was but I guess I wasn't using the right keywords because everything coming up was STD related and I knew that couldn't be it because I'm not sexually active. I decided to call telehealth (a service that offers non-emergency medical advice over the phone ) and described my symptoms and she recommended I see a doctor in the next few days, and that I take a sitz bath in the meantime. i had to work that evening, so i went hobbling.. my coworker asked me why i was limping and i had to lie and say i fell ice skating and hurt my knee.

By Monday the pain was terrible when I walked and the bulb had doubled in size. I decided to call in sick (blaming my knee again) and went to the walk-in clinic. The doctor took one look down there, poked it a bunch of times with her finger (it hurt so bad! ) and gave me a prescription which I was supposed to take 4 times a day for a week, and that it "might take a few days" before the swelling went down. A few days?! I asked if there was anything I could do immediately for the pain.. I could barely walk and couldn't go to work. She recommended Tylenol and sitz bath. She said if it got worse I could come back and she could put a needle in and drain it, but that there wasn't any pus yet so she couldnt do it then. I asked her what it was called and she says it was a cyst, and that some women get it, and sometimes it gets infected, and that some people even had surgery to have it removed (yikes!)

I hobbled home and went straight to the Internet determined to find some immediate relief. After much reading I settled on a combination of phoebe's and berryberry's method. I was wary about putting calamine lotion down there so instead i went With half a cup of chamomile tea, a few drops of tea tree oil (it was the 100% kind - I'd say about 8 drops) as well as a few drops of lavender and I added a few drops of witch hazel for good measure (I'd say also about 8 drops each). I soaked a cotton ball while the tea was still hot-ish, but not hot enough to burn, and placed it on the swollen area. It stung a little bit but I took that as a sign that it was working. I did this for about an hour, then did a sitz bath with Epsom Salts and baking soda, and basically alternated this routine all evening. I had also read it was good to drink fresh fruit juice with antioxidants so kept drinking a cocktail of carrot-pomegranate-blueberry juice. At this point I would do ANYTHING if it might help.

I was starting to become discouraged because I didn't see much change in the area. It was still swollen and inflamed and painful. The only difference was there was white head like the tip of a pimple, and I wondered if I'd just made it worse. I would later realize this was a good sign. I went to bed with a nightgown and no underwear, lay a towel on my bed, and did one final round of the chamomile concoction. I left it there while I slept, changing it once or twice overnight. when I woke up, I rolled over, preparing myself for the pain that would follow that movement, but to my surprise there was no pain! I reached down to remove the cotton and saw that it was filled with a red substance. the cyst had burst overnight and I hadn't felt a thing! I was so overjoyed. I squeezed out what was left and did one more round of chamomile for good measure and one more sitz bath.

I hope I never have to go through this again, but I know it can be recurring so at least I know what to do now! Thank you ladies for all your helpful info, I couldn't have made it through otherwise!
