Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) may be contagious when it is in active stage. It can reactivate during times of stress or poor health. I know that it can infect the minor salivary glands and cause a swollen, crusted lip. I wondered if my EBV had anything to do with my EC, but I also have celiac disease. So, it must be the celiac disease for me. But if anyone gets EC from anyone, one might want to look into EBV- if there is any way to see if your minor salivary glands are infected with it (special lab test performed by dentist, etc).
